The team sought a new location better suited for the Academy’s needs.
- Transparency: in a literal and figurative sense, the necessity of seeing all of what is occurring, in any given moment, in the studio. Transparency also, to allow the free flow of light throughout the academy. Glass was therefore selected as the key element in the reordering of the space. Wide, frameless panes of glass, guided by the ROLLGLASS+ system, allow a complete vision of what is happening in all the classes. These are combined with sliding glass doors to permit wide and comfortable access to the practice rooms, without taking up space while open.
- Discretion: The ROLLGLASS+ system, hung from the ceiling, is discreet, leaving the stage to the students to be the stars of the space as they are seen through the glass panes. The compact character and delicate matte silver color of the fixtures fits perfectly into the elegant surroundings. Technical perfection allows soft and silent sliding action.
- Security: The softness of the doors movements mirrors the fluidity of ballet. Bounces and shocks are avoided in opening and closing the doors through the use of the KLEIN Soft Closing system, providing total safety for the dancers.
The simple and discreet UNIKGLASS+ system, affixed to the wall in each room, guides a single sliding, frameless panel.
Again, safety is key: the mechanism of the shock-absorbing KBS braking device avoids bouncing and stops the door softly.
The flexibility and ease of the installation process were key factors in selecting the ROLLGLASS+ system, as the work needed to be completed while the academy was in use.
