Project type

Imaginative partitions to create transformable spaces

Tremendously transversal, elongated, narrow and, theoretically, without offering much room for modifications, the house was redesigned by architects Adrià Escolano and Davis Steegmann. A daring and unconventional intervention, based on movement and light, in search of a liquid and transformable architecture, designed to be versatile and adaptable.

In this sense, we opted for an innovative and dynamic distribution of the interior in which the mobile partition that runs longitudinally through the house from end to end, from the street façade to the interior patio, has a decisive weight, and which makes it possible to pass of natural light to all interior areas. The axis formed by four independent wooden sliding panels guided by KLEIN's SLID system, allows the rooms to be transformed to optimize the floor plan according to the moment and the needs.

Respect for the Catalan vault adds lightness and tradition to the whole. What could have been a brake on the designers' vision becomes a differential value: they have decided to fix the SLID sliding guide to the beams of the vault, thus marking an original and daring visual rhythm.

KLEIN's SLID system with large-format wooden panels provides this mobility, and facilitates the transformation of the space, at will. A solution that also incorporates the KSC Soft Closing braking system, to guarantee cushioned and silent closing, with a total absence of rebounds, both in opening and closing.

This filter of sliding planes works as a dynamic device that allows you to personalize the spatial layout with a simple movement, facilitating the metamorphosis of the space and the creation of changing common environments according to the needs of its inhabitants. A decision far from the traditional living room, which ensures permanent natural light to all the rooms and articulates two 'segregable' rooms on opposite sides of the house.
