Gensler’s new, creative workspace
The design philosophy of the new 2,100-square-meter office was based on an exhaustive planning and analysis process carried out by the company’s employees, who supported open, transparent spaces in order to encourage collaboration and socialisation, in addition to establishing a closer bond with the Newport Beach community and surroundings.
They opted to use frameless sliding glass interior doors for the offices, to separate spaces without dividing them, and to create a feeling of fluidity and spaciousness. This element also increases transparency and the flow of natural light.
The floor’s efficient, open layout was obtained through a series of flexible interior enclosures that allow for both concentration and collaboration, learning and socialisation.
The designed space combines employees’ need for privacy with the benefits of natural light and extensive views. It encourages communication and creativity.
Extendo
The Extendo system selected is made up of a fixed panel and two synchronised sliding glass panels measuring 12.5 mm thick, 1 metre wide and 2.5 metres tall.
The two telescopic mobile panels open simultaneously when the main door is put into motion, leaving a generous 2.5-metre passage area. They do not require any floor tracks, giving way to a completely accessible space.
The absence of a frame gives the feeling of an even more spacious doorway.
The entire glass front has one simple upper track, a minimalist detail that creates continuity between different spaces.
