The KLEIN story

    1920 - 1950

    Years 20's - 50's

In 1926, Ernesto Klein Theuman left Vienna and settled down in Barcelona, where he started a small metallurgy company. Difficult times were approaching. He and his family were evacuated in 1936 and sent to Germany. They wouldn’t return to Barcelona until four years later. It was then that Ernesto Klein Theuman resumed his business, laying the groundwork for what would later become KLEIN®.

    1950 - 1980

    Years 50's - 80's

His son, Gerardo Klein Stastny , who worked at the company from a young age, came into leadership in 1953. His management would mark the beginning of the growth and diversification of the company. It became renowned for its curtain rails, with an extensible rail system. In the 1960s, KLEIN® would launch its first sliding track for doors weighing between 40 and 1,000 kg, the iconic "K" Line.

    1980 - 2010

    Years 50's - 80's

In 1980, the company became a Corporation (Sociedad Anónima) in order to tackle new challenges. Under the direction of engineer Miquel Tàrrega Lloret, a focus on constant innovation served as a turning point for the company and its projection: at that point, KLEIN® began designing systems for closets, such as the Roll family, systems for wood panels, such as a hidden clamping system called Retrac, and the first applications for sliding glass doors (Rollglass, Unikglass, Extendo), acting as a pioneer in the use of pressure clamping. This high level of innovation, along with Elizabeth Klein Balaguer’s work as the head of international commercial activity, would allow for the opening of 57 markets across all five continents.

    2010-2022

    From 2010 until today

The fourth generation of the family has taken over the management of a brand renowned for its quality and reliability. Marc Tárrega Klein, the current CEO, updated the management system and strengthened the positioning of KLEIN®, investing primarily in international expansion, updated production processes, and the launch of new products, with the goal of continuing to empower KLEIN® into the future as the best partner as far as interior partitioning and enclosures are involved.

Sustainability

We aim to sustainably balance financial performance, social wellbeing, and environmental preservation. Within this framework, our activity positively impacts three areas: our people, the local community, and the environment.

Our people

We encourage professional development, based on equal opportunities as well as on work-life balance.

Our priority is to provide a suitable working environment for our people to grow professionally, allowing them to balance both their work and their personal needs. With this aim in mind, everything is made to favour personal growth and establish long-term relationships based on trust. We also implement processes that ensure their wellbeing, health, and safety.

KLEIN is committed towards its teams’ health and has designed a general Health Plan that encompasses prevention and communication actions. These actions include the annual flu vaccination campaign and annual medical check-ups.

The local community

Proximity is a key element to us and we support the communities within which we operate. We collaborate with different schools, universities, job placement centres (etc.), public institutions and non-profit associations. It is a way to nurture the social network close to our organization.

The environment

We dedicate resources to minimize the environmental impact of our activity.

We are committed to protecting the environment, as well as to preventing pollution through efficiently using our resources, reducing our CO 2 emissions and promoting the criteria of a circular economy. We improve the environmental aspects of the life cycle of our products.

KLEIN has an Integrated Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 and 14001 which aims to act efficiently in terms of product quality, service quality, occupational risk prevention and environmental protection. Our environmental policy management ensures not only compliance with legal regulations but also implies a firm will and clear objectives for continuously improved environmental protection. In this respect, Klein has a photovoltaic solar energy installation that generates the equivalent of 70% of the company's electrical consumption. We are also equipped to proactively lower our energy consumption, and we have implemented a zero-waste policy aimed at reducing, reusing, recycling, and recovering.

The most demanding international design certifications endorse our expertise, the result of 90 years of experience and constant innovation.

We are fully committed to providing excellent products, services, and management to all the stakeholders with whom we operate. We do not simply deliver what we agree to, we strive and challenge ourselves daily to exceed expectations.

We carry out design, modelling, manufacturing, and post-production entirely in our Barcelona factory, as well as all assembly. Furthermore, we take pride in a job well done and give full importance to details that are invisible but make all the difference.

KLEIN® systems are tested to over 100,000 cycles and we offer a 5-year guarantee on both systems and braking devices.
